The St Andrews Bay Championship

The St Andrews Bay Championship is a short golf blog post examining the inaugural tournament held at the Fairmont, St Andrews. This week sees the start of the St Andrews Bay Championship. The inaugural tournament, a part of the Asian Tour, will be held at the Fairmont Resort in St Andrews. It will be the 12th leg of the 2023 Asian Tour season. The 6th stop on The International Series. A part of the so-called “UK Summer Swing”. The Torrance Course There are two championship courses at the Fairmont Resort. But it will be the 7320-yard, Torrance Course that hosts the event. The Torrance Course was designed by the Ryder Cup Legend, Sam Torrance. It stretches over the 520-acre coastline plot with ease. The Competitors The field of 156 strong players includes the likes of Sergio Garcia, Charl Schwartzel, Paul Casey & Patrick Reed. Also in the field, you will find Joaquin Niemann, David Drysdale, Branden Grace & Bernd Wiesberger. There are a handful of amateurs who are also competing for the trophy. All of the above and many more are competing for a chance to take home a share of 1.5 million US Dollars. It will be a great opportunity for spectators to get close to some big names and witness some amazing golf. The best news is, it’s free entry to all spectators. The course is in great condition. I managed to play the course last week so I can verify the conditions. After struggling a little with my putter, I still managed a respectable score of level par after shooting 1 Birdie, 16 Pars & 1 Bogey. I would be amazed if the winning score is not at least -20.
