My Bucket List of Golf Courses – Part 3

25. Februar 2025

My Bucket List of Golf Courses – Part 3 is a short golf blog post that continues to look at the courses that I would love to play.

The first part of this series contained my top 5 golf courses, that I would love to play in Scotland & England.

Part 2 listed my top 5 golf courses in both Ireland & Northern Ireland.

This time (and this is the last part) I look at my top 5 golf courses in the USA & Europe.

So let’s get straight to it.

My Bucket List of Golf Courses – Part 3. – Europe
Real Club Valderrama (Spain)

This has to be at the top of the list for European Golf clubs.
The host of the 1997 Ryder Cup, Volvo Masters, European Tour and LET tournaments to name but a few.
It is a classic Robert Trent Jones design and a must for all golfers.
Take a look at their website here.

Lofoton Links (Norway)

Imagine playing golf at 1 o’clock in the morning. Or watching the Northern Lights dancing above the fairways. That sounds like Heaven on Earth to me.
This has been a dream of mine for years. I just have to find out how to make this possible.

Hilversumsche (Netherlands)

I have been aware of this golf club for some time and it has always featured on my European Bucket List.
There is something about tree-lined, diamond-cut fairways that get the juices flowing, as they say.
Have a look at their website within this link.

Thracian Cliffs (Bulgaria)

According to Gary Player, you will never play a golf course like this, anywhere in the world.
Everyone that I know, who has played it, has said that it is awesome.
It looks very dramatic on the cliff tops. Check it out here.

Hamburger GC Falkenstein (Germany)

This is often a golf course that is hardly known to many golfers, but it is high on my list.
Opened in 1906 and it is now the home of Esther Henseleit.
Take a look at their website here.

USA
Augusta National

Although this would take a miracle to get on to, it should be at the top of everyone’s Bucket List.
I have had the pleasure of walking around the course, but to play it would be a surreal dream.
Check out the course at Augusta National here.

Pebble Beach

After seeing this golf course for the first time on TV, I had to put it on my Bucket List.
This public golf course opened up in 1919 and is now famous for its annual Pro-Am tournament
This just has to be done at some point in my life. Check it out here.

Cypress Point

As a true Alastair McKenzie fan, I have to have this one up there on my to-do list.
If I get to play Pebble Beach, then this is going to follow it on the same trip.
Check out this course here.

Poppy Hills

This one is all down to Ea Sports (It’s in the game) and those late nights playing Poppy Hills on the PlayStation.
It may not be one of the best golf courses in the U.S. but it would be a pleasure to play it.
Tag this one onto the Pebble trip too.

Winged Foot – West

This course opened in 1923 and has been the host of many top tournaments over the years.
It’s just one of those courses that is easy on the eye but not on your game. A good test of golf.
