gWest Golf Resort

gWest Golf is a short golf blog post that takes a look at an amazing golf course with a derelict clubhouse.

Just a 2-minute drive from the amazing golf resort of Gleneagles, in a town called Blackford, you will find gWest or as some call it, ‘The Mosque’.

With an existing 18-hole golf course that is beautifully kept, the rest of the resort must be a formality because the cash is there.

The Golf Course

The course was designed by David Quay Kid and was commissioned by Maddie Altigire who is the owner of Highland Spring.

David Quay Kid has such courses as The Castle Course, St Andrews and Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon under his belt.

Built within a huge area of 620 acres of picture-perfect land. It has the beautiful backdrop of the Ochil Hills.

The course was completed in 2009 and is 7300 yards long. It is immaculate in design and superbly maintained yet closed for private use.

120,000 new trees have been planted on what was once a heritage site with 2 forts and an ancient church.

The Clubhouse

The clubhouse stands unfinished, dormant with wire fencing surrounding it.

The building was designed by GAJ Architects and was inspired by Colen Campbell who was an 18th-century architect.
GAJ Architects also designed the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club

The image below shows what it could look like on the inside.

The 6Star Hotel

This part of the project has not yet started but it already promises to be a superb hotel because of the 6 Stars.

They already promise lots of activities such as,

Horse Riding, Tennis, Squash, Golf, Swimming Pool, Shooting Range, Jogging Tracks and Fine Dining.

More to follow… Watch this space…because it is about to move forward.

The Property Plots

170 luxury building plots will soon be up for grabs once the go-ahead is agreed.

Everything at gWest has come to a standstill. Until that is, Mr Mahdi Altajir, Scotland’s 5th richest man, gets the OK to extend his Highland Spring factory.

The extension will cost above 16 million and due to this, it will create lots of new jobs.

As soon as that gets the go-ahead then he has said he will invest up to 100 million into the new hotel.
