7. November 2023

The-island-blog.jpg

Golfing Around Dublin is a short golf blog that looks at what is on offer around this magnificent city in Ireland.

If you have never played golf in Ireland then you are missing truly out.

There is something for everyone from Parkland Golf to Links Golf, Dublin has it all.

From The Island GC & Portmarnock Golf Links to the K Club and Carton House, there are courses for every budget and requirement.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to my top five.

Jameson Golf Links

Top 10 Courses in and around Dublin.
Portmarnock Golf Club

Located on a tongue of land, just a short drive northeast of Dublin. This course is always in the top 3 Links to play in Ireland.
There are 3 loops of 9 holes with Red & Blue making up the Old Links. The Yellow Loop is also well worth a game.
Green fees are €300 per golfer. No visitors are allowed on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
7466 yards – Par 72

Royal Dublin Golf Club

The course can be found on the Southern side of North Bull Island just East of Dublin.
Full of history for you to soak up. A wonderful Links course that is a great test of golf.
Green fees are between €180 – €205 per golfer. No visitors are allowed on a Wednesday.
7265 yards – Par 72

K Club – Palmer North

Located just a short drive West of Dublin is the home of the 2006 Ryder Cup. A fantastic resort that is a must to play.
Retrace the steps of our European heroes whilst trying not to sink too many balls into the water.
Green fees are €225 per golfer. As a resident of the hotel, the green fee is reduced to just €160 per golfer.
7350 yards – Par 72

Carton House – Montgomerie Course

Situated a short drive West of Dublin in beautiful surroundings, Carton House is stunning.
The golf course is in excellent condition (Augusta National standard).
Green fees are € per golfer.
7301 yards – 72

Jameson Golf Links – Langer Course

The course can be found on the coast just a short drive North East of Dublin.
A great test of golf, especially when the wind blows.
Green fees are €244 per golfer.
6514 yards – 71

The Island Golf Club

Located on a tongue of land North of Dublin sits The Island Golf Club.
I realise that this is number 6 from a list of 5 but I just couldn’t leave it out.
A wonderful links course that is well worth playing.
Green fees are €270 – €295 per golfer.
6312 yards – 73

Carton House

Top 5 Accommodation Providers
Carton House

As you can see from the image above, the hotel is breathtaking. It sits on a piece of land that is over 1000 acres in size.
It’s a 5-star luxury hotel with stunning guest rooms, restaurants, bars and a wonderful Spa.
Well worth every penny (or cent).

K Club

There are rooms, suites and lodges to choose from at this luxurious hotel resort.
5-star accommodation as well as several restaurants and bars and a lovely Spa.
I can highly recommend it.

Portmarnock Golf Hotel

Excellent location which is surrounded by Links Golf. It is only a short drive to many golf courses.
If I am honest, it is a little tired, here and there but they are lined up for a large refurbishment after their rebranding in October 2023.
Recommended to all golfers.

White Sands Hotel

If you are looking for more down-to-earth affordable accommodation, then this is it.
Great location that is within easy reach of all the top golf courses around Dublin.
It has more of an Inn vibe with decent bar snacks and pub food.
