Golf Shops in St Andrews

Golf Shops in St Andrews is a short golf blog post highlighting some of the many golf shops around the Auld Grey Toun.
As a golfer, I love having a look around the golf shops that I stumble across.
I find it difficult to pass them without going in and having a snoop around for that bargain.
This becomes a problem when I am in St Andrews. There are loads of golf shops.
Below I have listed many of them, but not all of them.
Golf Shops in St Andrews
This list is in no particular order…
The Open
First opened in 1866 by Tom Morris himself. This shop was the first ever Pro-Shop.
After many years it has now been taken over by the R&A and is run as a merchandise shop for The Open Championship.
I love this little shop because its contents are continuously changing due to The Open changing its venues.
The Old Course Shop
Run by the St Andrews Links Trust and is one of the many golf shops that typically sells only clothing.
The left side of the shop is gents clothing and the lower area is dedicated to women’s wear. In between the clothes, there are a few gifts to be found.
St Andrews Links by Travis Mathews
This little shop is often hidden by grandstands at major golf tournaments but it does have a permanent position behind the 18th green of the Old Course.
It was recently refurbished and now has a very modern interior. The shop is centred around Travis Mathew’s clothing and is well worth a visit.
The R&A World Golf Museum
A lovely little shop that sells mainly clothing and locally sourced gifts from the Home of Golf.
Don’t forget to visit the museum too because, after a huge refurbishment, the museum is very modern and will blow your mind.
Old Course Hotel Golf Shop
This is a beautiful shop, due to its design and that sells some amazing clothing. It is also full of little gifts and keepsakes for every visitor.
The shop is a must-visit in Winter when the sales kick in. I always enjoy looking around this shop, especially at the Jigger Inn Ts.
The links Clubhouse
Within the walls of the Links Clubhouse is a lovely-looking golf shop due to the glass walls. The shop is set out like a pro shop and has some excellent gifts and clothing.
It is always worth a look if you are visiting the clubhouse restaurant or playing golf on the New or Jubilee Course.
The Golf Shop of St Andrews
This is an old golf-orientated gift shop which is full of clothing, gifts and keepsakes. The slogan is great… ‘If you don’t buy from us, we both lose money’
I have been in here a few times and the owner loves to talk but he also likes to bargain.
The Pro Shop
A nice shop that doesn’t look inviting from the outside but has one or two little surprises on the inside. Check it out for yourself.
There are lots of bargains to be had if you ask nicely due to the owner being handy with a calculator.
St Andrews Golf Co.
If you enjoy the traditions of golf, then you will love this shop because it is full of hickory clubs to buy.
A few nice books, bags and gifts to take home with you from St Andrews.
Auchterlonies
This golf shop may not look like much from the outside, but inside it is a golfer’s dream.
The shop feels like an Aladins Cave because it is full of different departments including clothing, waterproofs, shoes, clubs, putters, bags and accessories.
If you don’t find it here, then you won’t find it anywhere due to the shop being crammed floor to ceiling with golf products.
Auchterlonies Ladies Locker Room
My wife finds it very hard to walk past this shop because it is full of the latest fashion for Lady golfers. Adidas, Glenmuir, Puma, Duca del Cosma etc.
Everything from polos to waterproofs, shoes and accessories. What more do you want?
So the next time that you are in St Andrews, don’t forget to have a look around. There are more golf shops than you think.
Other golf shops can be found at the Castle Course, The Duke’s Course, The Fairmont Resort as well as the shops in the many Golf Clubs.
