Golf Holiday Checklist
15. Juli 2025

Golf Holiday Checklist is a short golf blog post that looks at the list of vital items to take with you on holiday.
It is that time of the year again, when going on a Golf holiday is at the top of your wish list.
But, before you go, remember the last fiasco when you forgot your Passport or those golf shoes?
Then take a few minutes to read on and discover my ultimate checklist to avoid any upsets.
Golf Holiday Checklist
Passport
Have you got your passport with you?
Is your passport valid?
Do you know the travel laws of the destination that you are travelling to?
Travel Insurance
This is the one thing that most travellers either forget to take out or refuse to take out.
After years in the travel business, let me assure you, this is too important not to take out.
When taking out insurance, make sure that it has adequate cover for your holiday.
Cash & Credit Cards
Make sure that your Credit Cards or Debit Cards are up-to-date.
Contact your Bank Manager and let them know that you are going on holiday.
You wouldn’t want to be on holiday and your bank puts a stop on your cards.
Take some emergency cash with you, just in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
You will not believe how often that has helped me out whilst on holiday.
Flight Information
Have you already booked your flight?
If so, do you have your ticket saved somewhere or printed out?
Have you checked in online? If so, do you have your Boarding Pass saved or printed out?
Do you know which Terminal to go to at the Airport?
Accommodation
Have you booked a Hotel, Guest House, Bed & Breakfast or a Self-Catering place?
Has the accommodation been secured, and has the hotel been given your rooming list?
Have you got the reservation reference handy? Number or Name?
Directions to the accommodation provider? Postcode for Google Maps?
If it requires a key code to enter, have you got that saved somewhere?
Are you aware of the Check-in & Check-out times?
Golf
Has the golf been booked? If so, do you know the correct tee times?
Have you reserved any Caddies or Hire Equipment?
Don’t forget to have your proof of handicap with you (either paper or digital version).
Transportation
What transportation have you booked?
Full Time Bus & Driver, Bus Transfers or a Self-Drive option? Or are you depending on public transport?
Full-Time Bus
Do you have the contact details of the Bus Company or Driver saved on your Mobile Phone?
Are you aware of the pickup point & departure time?
Bus Transfers
Have you saved the contact details of the Bus Company on your Mobile Phone?
Do you know your pickup point & departure time?
Self Drive
Do you have a valid driving license?
Are you aware of the driving laws and regulations of the country you are heading to?
Do you know the Terms & Conditions of the Rental Care company?
Public Transportation
If you are taking either the train or a bus to your destination, do you know the route?
Are you aware of where the Train Station or Bus Station is?
Have you read what time the Train or Bus is leaving the station?
Do you already have a ticket? If not, do you know where you can buy one?
Mobile Phone Roaming
You may want to check that you have international roaming with your mobile provider.
Of course, when you are at your final destination, you can always use their WiFi. This is usually free to use.
Golf Bag
It is time to consider what kind of golf bag you are taking with you.
Will it be a good Stand Bag or a small Carry Bag? You may even want to take a Sunday Bag with you.
Golf balls weigh too much, so I always take just enough to play the first couple of rounds.
If needed, I will then buy extra balls on site.
I always take the correct amount of tees with me, and 2 or 3 gloves too.
Don’t forget your Pitch Mark Repairer and your distance finder.
Pack your waterproofs because you never know.
Travel Cover
What kind of travel bag do you have?
Is it a hard case cover, also known as the ‘Coffin’, or is it a soft, fold-up kind?
Coffins can be a nightmare for transporting, and they break too easily.
I recommend using a soft case, as they are so much more practical.
My quick tip… If you have a Driver with a removable head, then do so, take it off.
If you have had any damaged clubs on your travels, it is usually the Driver that has suffered.
When the Driver head is not removable, then take a plastic broom and put that in your bag for extra protection.
Also, make sure that you wrap a towel around your clubs for extra padding.
Weigh your bag to make sure it is within your sports equipment weight allowance
Luggage / Baggage
Make sure you know your weight allowance for your cabin bag and/or Check-in bag.
The size allowance is also very important to check.
It is advisable to take lots of thin layers with you on holiday.
They weigh less, so you can take more of them.
Remember to take a spare pair of golf shoes with you, if it works with your weight allowance.
There is nothing worse than putting on a pair of damp golf shoes, the morning after a wet day.
Make sure that you have your phone charger with you and the right adapter.
Wash Bag
Remember to check with the airport if you still need to separate your liquids into a small plastic bag.
Some airports now have scanners where you can leave all of your liquids in your Wash Bag.
Shampoo, Body Gel, Moisturiser, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Aftershave, Ear Buds are always in my Wash Bag.
As well as the above, you will also find fresh Contact Lenses, Eye Drops, Paracetamol, Dental Floss and Gaviscon.
I will also take my electric shaver with me, with the appropriate adapter, of course.
Can you survive without a Golf Holiday Checklist? Because I can’t!
