Alfred Dunhill Links Championships 2023

Alfred Dunhill Links Championships 2023 is a short golf blog post that looks at the famous Pro-Am in Scotland.

This is a unique golf tournament that is played by professionals and amateurs, side by side.
There is an individual tournament for the elite professional golfers to play for as well as a team event.
The tournament is played over three different golf courses and is a 4-day event.
Everybody in the field plays 18 holes on the Old Course, St Andrews, Kingsbarns Golf Links & Carnoustie Championship.
The best 60 professionals and the top 20 teams play the final round on the Old Course at St Andrews.

The Prizepot

This year’s prize money was 4.8 million for the top professionals in the tournament.
The prize money split was 200 thousand for the team event.

The Field – Professionals

This was a hugely anticipated tournament this year, right at the back of the Ryder Cup in Rome.
Mega stars of the game, including Tommy Fleetwood, Bob McIntyre, and Matt Fitzpatrick were playing.
So too were notables like David Howell, Stephen Gallagher, Jamie Donaldson, Eddie Pepperell, Thorbjorn Olesen, and Nicolas Colsaerts.
Some of my favourites included Padraig Harrington, Alex Fitzpatrick, Louis Oosthuizen, Billy Horschel, Matt Kuchar, Thomas Bjorn & Rasmus Hojgaard.

The Field – Celebrities

Actors Bill Murray, Andy Garcia, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Matthew Goode & Kathryn Newton all dominated the limelight.
Music legends Huey Lewis, Tom Chaplin, Ronan Keating, Mike Rutherford & Tico Torres playing their hearts out.
Sports stars John Elway, Gareth Bale, Ian Botham & Steve Redgrave were also present.
The field was full of top business stars including Peter Jones and Will Ahmed.

It promised to be a fantastic 4-day event until Day 3 came when the rain started. Sadly, it never stopped.
Saturday and Sunday were a complete washout. The tournament continued into Monday and ended up with just 3 rounds in total.

The Old Course… Don’t you mean the Wet Course?

All three courses ended up like swimming pools as the storms passed over Fife.
Thankfully, the team of excellent Greens Staff managed to clear the courses for Monday’s play.

At one point it looked like Ryan Fox was going to win the tournament for a second time.
The Professionals tournament-winning score ended up at -19. A great finish by Matt Fitzpatrick with a -6 final round.
As for the team scores… Matt Fitzpatrick won that too with the help of his Mother. They finished with a score of -35.
